- DES -- diethylstilbestrol, or DES, used between 1938 and 1971 to prevent miscarriage in high-risk pregnant women; linked to clear cell adenocarcinoma (rare form of vaginal cancer) reproductive tract abnormalities, infertility, and pregnancy complications in women and benign epididymal cysts in men.
- Lamisil -- cream or tablets used to treat nail fungal infections; associations have been made between the tablets and serious liver damage
- Lariam -- medication used to treat acute malaria that may cause anxiety, paranoia, depression, hallucination, psychosis, or suicide
- Oxycontin -- prescription pain reliever that has been widely abused; linked to addiction and cases of death due to overdose
- Vaccines -- used to inoculate against infectious diseases; some vaccines contain a preservative known as thimerosal, which contains mercury; some say thimerosal may cause autism
